Show 'E. JUNIOR JOHNSON WOUNDED IN ACTION ON LUZON Pfc. Edwin Junior Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson, was wounded on Luzon Jan. 21, according accord-ing to word received by his parents par-ents last Wednesday evening. He has been in the invasion there since Jan. 9. Pvt. Johnson, who is with the infantry, wrote his parents on Jan. 20th describing his activities as "mighty tough going" and stating that he felt lucky to be able to write, and it was known that he was in direct combat. On the following fol-lowing day, he was injured. He trained at Camp Roberts, Calif., after going into the service June 7, 1943, and left for overseas duty the following December. He participated in the invasion at Guadalcanal and later was confined confin-ed to a hospital in New Guinea for over four months with infection. He joined his company in New Guinea in September. |
