Show CAFES DECIDE TO CONSERVE FOOD It will be "meatless Tuesday" and "poultryless Thursday" in some 200 Utah restaurants from now until the critical world food shortage is allayed somewhat. Directors of the Utah and Salt Lake Restaurant Assn. moved Monday to back Pres. Harry S. Truman to the hilt in his voluntary volun-tary food conservation program. , But scores of smaller eating establishments such as hamburger stands and sandwich shops economically eco-nomically will be unable to comply, com-ply, a check of non-association restaurants indicated. Under a plan approved by restaurant res-taurant association directors, eating eat-ing places affiliated with the groups will: 1. Serve no meat on Tuesdays. 2. serve no poultry or eggs on Thursdays. 3. Furnish no bread or butter , to patrons except on request. 4. Urge all restaurateurs, whether or not they are affiliated with the associations, to cooperate in the president's program. |
