Eggs rose to 64c per dozen from 50c in 1946 and a 10-year average of 31.4c. Milk At 16c . . . Retail milk was 16c per quart, compared with 14.4c a year ago and an average of 9.3c. Wholesale 5 milk was $3.80 cwt., a slight drop from last year $4, but still more than the $2.45 average. Butter was 80c lb., compared with 72c in 1946 and an average ' of 39.7c. Butterfat per pound was practically the same, 81c last month, 72c last year, with an average aver-age of 39.8c. Encouraging decreases were noted in several commodities wool apples, hay, alfalfae and alfalfa al-falfa seed. to show a decrease in price since last month, when they were $1.65. This was still higher than last year's $1.40, however, and the average of 79c. Prices paid for meat animals showed no sign of decreasing. Hogs were $25 cwt., compared with $17 a year ago; beef was $20 cwt., higher than $14 as last year; veal jumped from $15 cwt. in 1946 to $20.50, mutton increased from $7.20 cwt. to $8 and lambs from $15.50 cwt. to $21.50. Last month the j price per head was $160, but a year ago one could be purchased j ' FARM PRICES IN PAST MONTH AT ALL-TIME HIGH Average price of farm commodities com-modities soared on to new record highs last month, according to a bureau of agricultural economics report released Friday, covering the period from Aug. 15 to Sept. 15. Wheat prices climbed to $2.09 per bushel, compared with the previous high of $2 for the same month in 1919; prices for meat animals were at the highest level since 1910; and eggs went to 64c per doz., the peak since 1909. Taking commodities one by one the report showed farmers received receiv-ed an average price of $2.40 per bushel for corn, compared with $1.85 a year ago and a 10-year average of $1.06. Wheat brought $2.09 per bushel last month, $1.79 last year, while the 10-year average price was 90c. Barley increased to $1.41 per biishel. Last year it was $1.22, even then considerably above the 64c average. Oats sold for $1.01, compared with 90c a year ago and an average of 48c. Potatoes Drop . . .
