Show FORMER DEPUTY PLEADS GUILTY ON TWO COUNTS . Harry T. Mower, 32, ex-clerical deputy in the office of Sheriff Theron S. Hall, entered pleas of guilty Friday afternoon to two charges embezzlement of Utah county funds and issuance pf fraudulent check. Judge W. Stanley Dunford deferred de-ferred sentencing and gave the state department of adult probation proba-tion and parole until Oct. 17 to investigate the case and report to the court. Mower was returned to jail in lieu of bond, which 'has been set at $1500 cash or $3000 property. ' During the course of the arraignment, ar-raignment, Mower was formally charged with embezzling $566.37 in Utah county funds instead of the $474.44 listed in the original complaint. The additional amount has been uncovered as a shortage in Mower's accounts since the complaint was drawn, Sheriff Hall said, and Mower's bonding company has reimbursed the county for the higher figure. The fraudulent check complaint accused the defendant of writing a check for $35 to a Provo store, with insufficient funds to cover it. n |
