Show FIRST TELEVISION PROGRAMS BEING HELD THIS WEEK Television entered intermountain communication and entertainment facilities on a regular schedule Monday night when station W6-XIS, W6-XIS, operated by radio station KDYL, began tri-weekly evening programs. Inaugurating the first regular program of television in the intermountain inter-mountain area were talks by Gov. Herbert B. Maw, Mayor Earl J. Glade, Dr. A. Ray Olpin, University Univer-sity of Utah president; S. S. Fox, president and general manager, Intermountain Broadcasting Corp., and radio and television officials. Gov. Maw said addition of television tele-vision to the already great communications com-munications media of newspapers and radio continued a new scientific scien-tific and industrial area, while other speakers praised television as "another milestone in our progress." prog-ress." After the opening talks, the balance of the program was made up of a television newsreel and variety entertainment, the latter televised from the KDYL Playhouse, Play-house, 68 Regent st. The telecasts will continue eaeh Monday, Wednesday and Friday at S p. m., with test programs to be beamed out from 3 to 4 p. m., Monday through Friday. |
