Show Mrs. Leah A. Bartlett Has 82nd cBirthday Mrs. Leah Armstrong Bartlett, Springville pioneer resident, observed ob-served her birthday on Monday at her home, Ninth South, Fourth East street. She was eighty-two years old. ' Mrs. Bartlett was born in Birm ingham, Warwickshire, Eng., January Jan-uary 5, 1860 and came to this country with her parents, John and Mary Ann Lucas Armstrong in 1863. For 18 months, the family lived in New York, and then came by ox and mule team to Utah. They settled in Springville. and Mrs. Bartlett has made her home here since. She was married November 9, 1876 at Springville. Her husband died in May 1920. She Is the mother of 13 sons and daughters, with six living, Mrs. Nelson Wright and Arch Bartlett of Springville; Jess Bartlett of Wamsutter, Wyo.; W. E. Bartlett of Provo Canyon; Mrs. George Close and Mrs. Lon-zon Lon-zon Nelson of Spanish Fork; also 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. S S. T. CLUB MEMBERS WERE ENTERTAINED at the home of Mrs. Hugh Baxter on Friday night. Holiday decorations decor-ations added to the party and progressive pro-gressive contract bridge was the feature of entertainment. Prize for the evening's games in he form of defense saving stamps, were won by Mrs. Floss Phillips. Concluding the party, delicious refreshments were served to eleven Simkins, a special guest, club members and Mrs. Mabel MR. AND MRS. A. O. PACKARD ENTERTAINED AT DINNER at their home on Sunday for a number of relatives. The dining table held a pretty centerpiece of sweet peas. Covers were laid for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover, Carol Bird, Nicholas Bird, Mrs. Rhoda Dougall, Mrs. Catherine Wills and daughter Mary C, and the host and hostess. |
