Show MANY SUPPLIES SHIPPED TO AND FROM AFRICA About s i x hundred thousand tons of supplies have been shipped to North Africa to meet the urgent urg-ent needs of the population, according ac-cording to Lend-Lease Administrator Adminis-trator Edward R. Stettinus, Jr. It is interesting to observe that the United States has sent 15,234 tons of supplies and the British about 40,000 tons, mostly coal. Ships returning to British and Amerioan ports have delivered more than 350,000 tons of raw materials, needed for munition and farm production. This little item also calls attention to the fact that the occupation" of North Africa cut the Axis off from these supplies. |
