Show LOCAL NURSE IS TRAINING FOR OVERSEAS DUTY Lt. Lucille Crandall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs- Welby Crandall of this city, is now stationed somewhere near Nashville, Tenn. in a camouflaged hospital which serves maneuvering soldiers, as well as many patients of the Armed Forces. The hospital, unique in every detail, according to a description given, is the first such unit of its kind established in the United States. It would seem from the description descrip-tion that the army nurses and doctors in the hospital have all the inconveniences possible, but this condition is really necessary to train them for emergencies. Nurses of this hospital are eager eag-er to get overseas, according to report, and it is for this duty that they are being trained- The hospital covers some thirty acres. Nurses are trained to do for themselves at all times, and this is demonstrated in the fact that they are trained to erect their own "pup" tent and sleep on the ground. They learn to dig their own foxholes with the tiny entrenching tools, in addition to their many duties as a hospital nurse. They learn to use their steel helmets for washing their hair, taking a sponge bath and for doing laundry, according to a report from the hospital. " |
