Before a distinguished gathering each of the winners will receive from the sponsors a J500 College scholarship scholar-ship check and cither a television receiver or a radio-phonograph combination and antenna. The competition originates in each school where the. contestant's write and voice broadcast scripts not to exceed five minutes in length on the subject, "I Speak for Democracy." 'j 12th grade students of all public" private and parochial School's throughout the United States and its Territories It is indorsed bv the U. S. Ofice of Education, Federal Security Agency, Ag-ency, and approved by the contest board of the National Association of secondary School Principals. Each year, four co-equal national nation-al winners are selected by a judge-iiP judge-iiP panel of eminent Americans. These winners are brought to Washington, D. C. on a week-long all expense trip. There they tour historic shrines, observe Congress and other governmental agencies in action, and are received by many of the nation's leaders. While in Washington during the Awards Week, which is traditionally tradition-ally in February, the four youngsters young-sters also spend a week en,d in Colonial Williamsburg, Va., as the' juests of the Rockefeller Founda- |
