Show . Life of Mary Lee Keviewed at Club The life of Mary Lee, wife of the Civil War hero, Robert E. Lee, was reviewed before members of the Modern Mothers club by Mrs. Katherine Sheffield, at their meeting meet-ing last week, at the home of Mrs. Jim Livsey. The book told of the girlhood of Mrs. Lee, who was a great granddaughter grand-daughter of George and Martha Custis Washington, and how her home was confiscated during the Civil War and later used as a cemetery. ceme-tery. It is now the famous Arlington Arling-ton National Cemetery. Mary Lee, though crippled with disease at an early age, played an important part in the valiant role her husband played in Civil War times. The club meeting closed with refreshments re-freshments served by the hostess. |
