Show Dr. Boyd E. Nelson Family to Live In Trenton, N. J. Dr. and Mrs. Boyd E. Nelson and two sons Boyd. Jr., and Ray, visits ed in Springville this week at the home of Mrs. Nelson's mother, Mrs. Laura Clegg, and were extensively ex-tensively entertained by relatives and friends prior to their departure Wednesday for Trenton, N. J., where Dr. Nelson has accepted a position as Director of. Special Education Ed-ucation for the State of New Jersey. Jer-sey. Mrs. Nelson is the former Hilda Clegg of Springville. Dr. Nelson, retiring as superintendent superin-tendent of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind at Ogden, which position he has held since 1942, will have his new office at the state capitol building in Trenton, N. J. He will be in direct charge of the education of all special groups including deaf, blind, speech defective, physically handicapped and the educationally retarded groups. He holds two Doctor degrees, one in Audiometry , from Illinois and one in Educational Administration Adminis-tration and Phychology from the University of Utah. He received his MA degree in Education of the Exception Child from Columbia University in New York and a BS degree in Special Education from Washington University, St. Louis; also a BA degree in Education Edu-cation and Speech from the BYU. After eleven years in Utah, Dr. Nelson, a native of Pleasant Grove, and members of his family expressed express-ed regret at leaving but feel that the challenge of the new position is such that he must accept. |
