Show Three-Day Meet Draws Top Thoroughbreds Clearing skies and the prospect of the first holiday holi-day of the season are expected to draw record crowds to Spring Acres race track this Saturday, May 26, ! Fans from throughout through-out the intermountain area will be on hand at 3:30 post time, to witness the contests, featuring some of the finest racing thoroughbreds thor-oughbreds in the West. The later starting time, 3:30 p.m., it will be noted, allows workingmen and those wishing to attend other events to be on hand for the feature fea-ture race each day, to be run at approximately 5:15. Probable starters in Saturday races in which the feature race will be the Spring Acre handicap for 3-year-olds, will be "Howes Step," winner of the 1950 Elko, Nevada, Derby; "Bull's E.," from Arizona Downs in Phoenix, winner of an easy victory last out, being be-ing only 2-5 of a second off the track record; "Katie Ann," a three time winner at Phoenix this winter, and just back from a good season sea-son at Bay Meadows; and a newcomer new-comer to the Spring Acres track, a full sister to the world's champion cham-pion quarter-horse, "Tidy Step," making her debut and arousing some little interest among the fans who have been gathering at the track the past few days for a preview of the horses. Saturday will also feature the awarding of a beautiful silver platter plat-ter donated by the Chicken Roost, and a gorgeous horseshoe of flowers flow-ers to the winner given by the Springville Floral. The grounds have been newly renovated and the track is in excellent condition, and fans are promised a full afternoon after-noon of finest entertainment. The feature race will be broadcast each day at approximately 5:15 direct from the track by radio station sta-tion KOVO. Miss Utah, (Coloen Hutcliins) will lend her lovely presence to tlio day's festivities, by being on hand to award the Gold Cup to i tlio winner of the Memorial Day Pictured above is Carl Nelson who won the state high school singles tennis title Monday in the Class B division. Speed Handicap on Wednesday, May 30th, and among other attractions at-tractions will appear Ruby King, known as America's greatest contortionist, con-tortionist, who appeared last week at the Last Frontier in Las Vegas, Veg-as, and who has also appeared at Radio City, New York, and on Milton Beiie's television show. A great hand-balancing act by the Qualaddedas and other specialties will help enliven the afternoon's program, and Spring Acres is prepared pre-pared to welcome sports-loving citizens for 'the three-day event with the finest in racing; entertainment. entertain-ment. Local enthusiatsts will undoubtedly undoubt-edly be glad to welcome back to the track such all-time favorites as "High Kisses," sensational little mare worth her weight in trophies; "Scott O'Grady," the horse that has won three handicaps on Spring Acres tractk in recent years; and a number of speedy favorites from Utah county and vicinity. Among new entries who will win loyal support us are "Medium" consistent top-bracket winner at Phoenix during this winter's season, sea-son, and "Teal," who won an approximate ap-proximate $10,000 on California tracks during the past year. Each of the three days, May 26, 30 and June 2nd is thrill-packed thrill-packed and full of excitement.
