Show Annual Red Cross Meeting Held Here Fayne Laney of this city was elected a member of the County Red Cross board of directors at an annual meeting of the county organization, conducted at Melody Inn Monday evening. Edwin D. Rounds, regional Red Cross director from the Pacific area office, San Francisco, Calif., was the guest speaker. He outlined out-lined the growth of the Red Cross organization since its inception 70 years ago, and complimented the Utah county organization on their accomplishments. ( He outlined three objectives of the Red Cross the coming year. First, to minister to the needs of the members of the armed services ser-vices and their families; second, to effect a training program so that persons may take care of themselves in an emergency and third, to initiate a blood procurement procure-ment program. Eighteen gray ladies and gray men were awarded pins during the evening and their work was explained. ex-plained. They average about '250 hours of volunteer service at the hospital each month, it was stated. A report was made by the production pro-duction committee to the effect that without that about 500 items had been made by volunteer women and distributed to Veterans hospitals. hos-pitals. About 500 more items are now being made, it was stated. In the fund campaign, it was reported that $21,392.97 had ben raised and more is yet to come in.
