Burgi, son of Mrs. Teressa Burgi of Provo, formerly of Mapleton, has received the bronze star, in recognition of his distinguished ser- ' ' ' "'" ' ' Sgt. -Robert G. Burgi vice and heroice achievement September Sept-ember 19, near Yongho, Korea. He has also been promoted from corporal cor-poral to Sergeant First Class. The citation accompanying the award indicated that Sgt. Burgi, who has been in Korea since last August, was in the thickest of the battle and in a dangerous position. posi-tion. The citation read as follows: Sergeant First Class Robert G. Burgi, US 57600135, Infantry, army of the United States, a member mem-ber of Company K, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, distinguished himself by heroic achievement on 19 September, 1950 near Yongpo, Korea. Sergeant Burgi's platoon, while attacking enemy-held high ground, was subjected sub-jected to heavy sniper and machine gun fire. Sergeant Burgi advanced through the heavy fire in order to direct the members of his squad to positions of cover and to point out the location of an enemy machine mach-ine gun to a mortar observer. He then led his squad to the top of the hill and directed effective fire upon the enemy snipers. His courageous leadership throughout this action was largely responsible for the platoon's success in accomplishing accomplish-ing its mission with a minimum of casulities.
