Show WBFB Tourney Opened Wed.; Teams Play Today Allstar players from the Sage Creek league and the Hobble Creek league opened play in the Western Baseball for Boys district dist-rict 2 tournament in Provo yesterday yester-day afternoon their goal of reaching reach-ing the WBFB championship at Santa Monica, Calif. However, their first objective must be reached reach-ed in winning the district 2 meet, and then duplicating the achievement achieve-ment by taking the sectional tourney tour-ney to be played in Salt Lake City Aug. 9, 10 and 11 before they can enter the finals at Santa Monica. Hobble Creek 13 8 2 Nephi 4 7 0 All-Stars playing on the Hobble Creek team are: Robert Christen-sen, Christen-sen, Jimmy Sheffield, Robert Livingston, David Whiting, De-Vere De-Vere Childs, John Blanchard, Steven Ste-ven Strong, Dick Stevenson, Dean Bardsley, Hal Sheppard, Boyd Hansen, Mike Young, Dennis Johnson, Steven Sumsion, with Wave Miguel, manager and Buck Lamphere, assistant. All-stars for the Sage Creek team are: John Patrick, Bill Miller, Mil-ler, Ronald Canto, Richard Anions, Bryan Burt, Mike Haslam, Sid Whiting, Wayne Smart, Clark Biggs, Dennis Drake, Jimmy Lan-ey, Lan-ey, Stephen Mauck, Russell Clark, Arnold Straight and David Pal-freyman. Pal-freyman. Paul Beardall is. manager. mana-ger. Wednesday's schedule pitted Hoble Creek's team against Nephi and the Sage Creek club against the Northeast league team of Provo. Games today will start with the winner of the Northeast-Sage Creek game meeting the American-National winner at 3:30. Merlin Mer-lin Slack of Provo is in charge of the tournament. |
