Glen Coffman representing the (Continued on Page Two) The regular meeting of the Springville City Council was held Monday January 21, 1957 at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers. Mayor A. W. Cherrington was in the chair. Roll call showed the following present: CI. William G. Ruff, CI. Ernest A. Strong, Jr., CI. Harold J. Whiting, CI. J. Grant Nielson, CI. Ralph Child, Attorney Jackson B. Howard and Recorder Lloyd J. Ashcraft. Prayer was offered by Recorder Ashcraft. The minutes of the previous meeting held Monday January 7, 1957 were read and approved. Mr. and Mrs. E. S.. Williams presented , -a plot plan of- the "E. S. William's addition adjoining the Art City Cinemotor to be annexed an-nexed to the city limits. The council coun-cil approved it stipulating it be approved by City Engineer John Neff and an ordinance of annexation annexa-tion be prepared. It was moved by CI. Strong and seconded by CI. Nielson to represent the Council to consider the feasibility feas-ibility of a project. CI. Ruff recommended consideration consider-ation be given to the building of rest rooms on the North Park. Authorization was given for him to contact Mr. Neff regarding plans. The Council approved acceptance and payment with $1,000 allowance to complete the job when the weather wea-ther permits. The tank has been filled with water and running into the city system for some time. Expressions from the Mayor and Council members mem-bers were that the tank is entirely satisfactory. The Council approved calling for bids for two 1957 half ton pick up trucks. One to be used by the electric department and one in the Police Department. Bids to be opened at the Council meeting February 4, 1957. CI. Child reported having attended atten-ded a meeting with representatives representa-tives from the surrounding cities regarding sales tax increase and allocation of B and C road funds. The council favored his stand in being opposed to both. Authorization was granted to CI. Child to arrange for a house to house canvass to see that sewer connections are made. It was moved by CI. Child and seconded by CI. Ruff that section 420 of chapter 26 of the revised ordinance's be repealed restricting playing pool and bowling on Sunday. Sun-day. Motion passed with four ayes and one nae. It was moved by CI. Ruff and seconded by CI. Child that the hourly and monthly salaried employees em-ployees wages be increased by eight cents an hour, based on 200 hours a month. The department heads to receive a differential and the men in the police department set at $310 per month. Motion passed unanimously. It was moved by CI. Strong and seconded by CI.
