Show Old-fashioned Popovers, served ser-ved with plenty of buter oi margarine, make a delightful breakfast bread. Sift together 1 cup sifted enriched flour and Vz teaspoon salt. Combine 2 beaten eggs ana l cup milk. Add to flour mixture and beat to a smooth batter. Add 1 tablespoon ta-blespoon melted shortening. Beat 3 min. with rotary beater. Pour into well-greased custard cups, filling Vs full. Bake in hot oven (425 fahrenheit) 20 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate moder-ate (350 degrees fahrenheit) and bake 25 to 30 minutes longer, long-er, until brown and firm. Makes 6 Popovers. |
