Show Springville Federated Clubs Name Mrs. Ella Reynolds Mother of Year f 1 ; I . , W-1 flW Tl Mrs. Ella Reynolds Springville Federated Women's Wo-men's clubs have chosen Mrs.; Ella Reynolds as the mother of the year 1956, and will enter, her name for district honors. I The winner of each district will enter the state contest. An outstanding civic leader, ; whose services as a speaker have taken her throughout the state the past year and for several years previous, Mrs. Reynolds recently observed her 81st birthday. She was born and reared in Springville and her services to her church and her community began at the age of 12 years when she sang in the ward choir. Insubsequent years, she has held positions in practically all of the church auxiliary organizations organ-izations as an officer and teacher and has also been a counselor in the stake MIA. Her civic activity has included includ-ed work on celebration committees commit-tees throughout the years. She assisted in having the pioneer monument placed on the City Park; has served on the Black Hawk committee and the Old Folks committee. She has held practically every office in the DUP organization including captain and has been class leader for the past 14 years. Last October she was invited to demonstrate presentation of a lesson at the state DUP convention con-vention in Salt Lake. She is a member of the Mothers Mo-thers Study club and has served ser-ved two terms as president. Throughout her busy life of church and civic service, she has found time to beautify her home with flowers and her yard has long been one of the beauty spots in the city. Much of the work she has done herself and her bouquets, slips , roots and bulbs have helped to beautify many other gardens as well as the rooms and bed-sides of sick friends and shut-ins. As a speaker, Mrs. Reynolds has a special gift, quoting from memory many lines of verse and bits of philosophy to brighten brigh-ten the lives of all with whom she comes in contact. Her services ser-vices at weddings, funerals, Ro- tary, Lions and "Kiwanis clubs have taken her all over the state and only last year, she spoke at the Firemen's state convention held at Price. Mrs. Reynolds, whose husband, hus-band, J. O. Reynolds passed away several years ago, is the mother of five sons and daughters, daugh-ters, three of whom are living: Dr. W. Earl Reynolds, prominent promin-ent dentist of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Provo; Mrs. V. Cornell (Bess) Mendenhall of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Springville and Mrs. John Y. (Birdella) Bearnson, Springville; Spring-ville; also nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. |
