Show Camp Springville DUP Nominates The Camp Springville DUP nominating nom-inating committee presented the names of officer candidates for next year at the April camp meeting meet-ing held last Thursday afternoon, in connection with a fine program given under direction of Mrs. Lura Patrick, captain, at the home of Mrs. Jennie Sanford. Mrs. Arvilla Robbins was nominated nom-inated for captain; Mrs. Bessie Averett, first vice captain; Mrs. Emily Anderson, second vice-captain; Mrs. Birdella Bearnson, secretary; sec-retary; Mrs. Leonia Cameron, organist; or-ganist; Mrs. Jennie Sanford, chorister; chor-ister; Mrs. Ella Reynolds, class leader; Fanny Rowland, registrar; Mrs. Cornelia Allan, historian; Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler, clipper; Mrs. Hattie Dougall, parliamentarian. parliamen-tarian. Captain Patrick presented the names of Mrs. Marabey B. Bear-dall Bear-dall and Mrs. Florence H. Ekker as new members of the camp. Mrs. Ekker gave the history of her grandparents, James Edward and Mary Catherine Wiggins Hall, during dur-ing the afternoon. Both were early settlers of Springville. Dan Harrison, a descendant of the Halls, entertained with an ac-cordian ac-cordian selection during the meeting meet-ing and Mrs. Ella Reynolds gave the lesson on "Pioneer Days in Dancing." Responding to her request re-quest for personal experiences of members in early day dances, several sev-eral members told interesting stories. . The camp members practiced songs and enjoyed refreshments served by hostesses: Mrs. Lela Sumsion, Mrs. Mattie Palfreyman, Mrs. Jane Wagner, Mrs. Carrie Hansen, Mrs. Retta Sumsion and Mrs. Estella Ollerton. Thirty members mem-bers were in attendance. |
