Jaycees to Place New Officers On Job Tonight Springville Jaycees will install new officers at the meeting this evening -at 8 p.m., at Kapp's Melody Melo-dy Inn. It will be a ladies night dinner-meeting with State President Presi-dent Lamar Buckner in attendance to officiate at the installation. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Grant Thorn award to the Jaycee with the most outstanding record of club activity for the year. In the absence of Mr. Thorn, Verl Whiting Whit-ing will make the . presentation. Scott Bertelsen will be toastmas-ter. toastmas-ter. Bill Averett will take over the dtuies of president; Don Humphrey and Kent Palfreyman, vice presidents; presi-dents; Oran Nielson, secretary; Reed Johnson, treasurer; Floyd Graves, Lamar Holley and Scott Bertelsen, one-year directors; and Waldo Jackson, Blaine Hardy, and Marcus Johnson, 2-year directors. State Banquet Representing 19 different clubs, 285 Jaycees from over the state were in attendance to hear the national na-tional president, Horace Henderson Hender-son talk. A short talk also was made by Grant Thorn and representatives repre-sentatives from clubs running men for officers including Price, Spanish Span-ish Fork. Provo and Kaysville spoke briefly. Also a bid was received re-ceived from Richfield for the 1954 convention. |
