Show $ Dog Licenses Must Be Secured States City Police Chief Owners of dogs must secure a license in the very near future and have the license number attached at-tached to the dog's collar, it was announced this week by Police Chief H. M. Weight. The dog tax collector will call on owners soon and the tax may be paid to him or at the City Hall, it was stated. Also police officers are asking the owners of dog's to keep them from garbage cans as a number of complaints have been received concerning dogs tipping over cans. The ordinance on registration and annual tax on dogs states that it is unlawful for a person to keep a dog within the city without with-out making application to the city recorder for that purpose . . and paying an annual tax of $10 for female dogs and $3 for male. It is the duty of the city marshall to register the applicant's name and description of the dog and to give the applicant a certificate of registry. The dog collar must have a suitable plate or check attached thereon, having a number corresponding corres-ponding to the certificate or registry re-gistry inscribed on the collar. Dogs not thus tagged, will be impounded im-pounded or killed by the city marshall or deputies, the ordinance ordin-ance states. |
