Local "Teenagers" Working Hard As 'First Period' Deadline Nears; Subscription Votes Drop Saturday 8 p.m. $ Just Two Days Remain in Which To Secure Biggest Votes For New or Renewal Subscriptions; Registrations For Late Entrants Will Close Saturday In most of the areas of this wonderful land of ours this is the 'slack' time of the year, a new year is just getting under way and everything is calm and serene . . . BUT NOT IN SPRINGVILLE! 3Since the Herald's announcement of the big "TEENAGER" PRIZE CONTEST on Thursday of last week, things have really been 'humming' in the Springville area. No less than thirty-three teen-age boys and girls of this arm are "burning up" the streets as they travel from house to house in search for new and renewal subscriptions sub-scriptions to the Springville Herald. Every one of these energetic ener-getic youngsters is "out to win" the big $367.15 Packard-Bell Console Con-sole Radio or one of the other valuable prizes offered in this unique uni-que contest. First 'check-in' day of the contest con-test was Tuesday of this week and the results would indicate that citizens of the area are doing everything within their power to aid these enterprising young contestants. con-testants. Parents, friends and relatives rel-atives of contestants are urged to give a helping hand wherever possible. A pat on the back by way of a new or renewal subscription can mean a great deal to any contestant con-testant in his or her efforts to become be-come a winner. First Period ends Saturday. The all-important 'First Period' (first week) of the contest will come to a close this Saturday evening at 8 p.m. and at that time votes issued on both new and renewal re-newal subscriptions will take a big drop. For this reason all contestants con-testants will be making every effort ef-fort to make every possible sale within the next two days. Residents Resi-dents of the area are urged to get behind their favorite and ask him or her to stop by and pick up your subscription or you can make payment direct to this office by mail or in person, just be sure to designate the boy or girl you wish to have receive credit for your payment. Registrations Close Saturday. Boys and girls who want to get in on the big prizes and valuable cash commissions offered in this contest still have time to enter. Registrations will be taken at the Herald office until Saturday evening even-ing at 8 P. M. and any energetic enterprising teen-ager would still have a very good chance to come out on top two weeks from Saturday. Satur-day. If your favorite junior citizen citi-zen has not as yet entered the contest, urge him or her to do so , immediately. Mom and Dad Can Help. As stated above, parents are urged to get behind their boy or girl and give every possible assistance. as-sistance. A pat on the back, if well placed, can do much toward starting a young boy or girl on the way to the top. As each boy and girl progresses in this contest, personalities develop, sales ability is acquired and a sense of responsibility respon-sibility becomes evident; AND. each obtains training which will prove very valuable in later life. In order that fair and impartial treatment may be assured for each contestant, a group of responsible res-ponsible citizens has been picked to act in the capacity of an advisory advis-ory board of judges. Members of this advisory board, who will decide de-cide on all issues throughout the contest, are all well known citizens citi-zens of the Springville area. Final decisions as given out by them will be beyond dispute. |
