Show FOUR BABIES ASPHYXIATED PERTH AMBOY, N. J., Oct. 23 (t'.Pi Four babies, ranging in age from four to 40 days, were asphyxiated as-phyxiated today when a radiator radia-tor valve blew out and flooded the nursery of the Perth Amboy General hospital with steam. Three doctors and two internes halted preparations lor an emergency em-ergency operation, and, using all the hospital's resuscitative equipment, equip-ment, saved the lives of two ot the six infants who were in the room. Coroner James J. Flynn pronounced pro-nounced the deaths due to "asphyxiation "as-phyxiation by steam." explaining the steam had replaced all t'fte oxygen in the nursery ward. The tragedy occurred before any of the babies had been christened. chris-tened. Piaising the work of the doctors, doc-tors, who later went tack to the operating room and performed perform-ed the delayed operation, the coroner said the deaths were unavoidable. |
