Show Board of Regents Halts Rumors C, U. Coach Under Fire BOULDER, Colo., Of:t. 23 (I'.R) Bernard F. Oakes, University of Colorado head coach who tutored Byron (VVhizzer) White, 1937 PJiodes scholarship all-America all-America back, had the "complete confidence" today of the school's board of regents. The regents, called into special meeting to consider "reports ana rumors" of unrest in the college's gridiron camp, announced it was "satisfied with the present foot ball setup." President Robart Stearns said the governing body had made a "complete investigation investiga-tion of the situation." The move came on heels of persistent reports that the C. U. athletic board, composed of three faculty members and three university uni-versity students, had submitted a formal protest demanding Oakes' resignation. Colorado, which lost its first three games of the season to Missouri, Kansas State and Utah Stale, defeated Colorado state, 13-0 Saturday for its first victory vic-tory of the season. |
