GEORGE, Utah, Oct. 21 (U.R) Washington county officers today admitted they were without a clue to the identity of the motorist whose automobile struck and killed Mrs. Ellen Westover, 70, as she crossed a street in the village of Washington, near here. She wan the 128th traffic victim in Utah thus year. i The woman's body was discovered discov-ered in the .street by John Malloy, Los Angeles motorist, who told aul horities he "nearly wrecked" the car attempting to avoid striking strik-ing the woman, halted his car and discovered Mis. Westover was nearly dead. Malloy was not held. Marion Snow, state highway patrolman, and Victor Hale, sheriff's sher-iff's deputy, said the woman evidently evi-dently was struck about 6:30 p. m. Sunday and was found about 15 , minutes afterward. j Mrs. Westover was taken to aj St. George hospital, where she died at 8 p. m. of a skull practure. She also .suffered severe lacerations' of the face and body bruises. Her left foot was nearly severed. Her death was the second chalked up to Washington coun-1 ty's traffic fatality record this I year. j |
