Show BOY BANDITS CONTINUE TO STEAL AUTOS Depredations of three youthful thieves, who last night struck in Springville and Spanish . Fork, set peace officers on an ever-widening search today for the trio, believed be-lieved to be escaped Ogden state industrial school in- A string of mysteriously disappearing disap-pearing cars, a filling station holdup hold-up in Provo early Sunday morning, morn-ing, and other brushes with the law were attributed by sheriff's officers here to the three. A fourth accomplice is suspected of being in the gang's operations. I Latest car to disappear is that of R. B. Money, Spanish Fork, whose new sedan was stolen from his home either late last night or early this morning. Description of the car was broadcast throughout the state this morning, and state patrolmen were on the watch for the brown Chevrolet sedan, bearing license 95-205. At guns' point the trio forced their way out of Springville last night sometime prior to the disappearance dis-appearance of the car in Spanish Fork. Driving a stolen Chrysler used in the stickup of the Texaco service station at Second South and University here Sunday at 2 a. m. which netted them S17, the trio were preparing to siphon gas from a Springville car last night when spotted by the owner and a neighbor. The youths remonstrated with the two Springville men, telling them it was their first offense, that they were withot money and had to get back to Salt Lake City, Deputy Sheriff Joseph P. Gourley reported. As one fan left to call police, one of the trio pulled a gun on the neighbor, then they broke for cover leaving their car which the Springville marshall took into custody. cus-tody. Its motor number was chiDDed. Officers searched for them until early today. Yesterday the Sanpete county sheriff was in Provo. reporting loss of a car in his jurisdiction. Facts indicated the three may have taken it, clearing' it through a fourth comanion. The Chrysler was also seen in Salt Lake City near where a Chevrolet was stolen several days ago. Another Lehi car is expected to have been included in-cluded in the group's loot. Only the Chrysler has been reported recovered. |
