Show BLACK HAWK CAMP TO MISS OLD TIMERS Fellow Black Hawkers and oth- cr friends will be disappointed in the absence of Amasia Hay-mond Hay-mond this week at the state Black Hawk encampment at Moroni. Mr. Haymond, who for the past several years has been one of the outstanding characters at the encampments, en-campments, 'has been confined to his bed for some time and though unable to attend, informed Captain Cap-tain M. F. Miner when he visited him recently, that his thoughts during the week will be with his comrades and friends at Moroni. Mr. Haymond will not be alone in not attending. Each year the ranks of veterans and pioneers grow thinner as one by one they are unable to attend or drop from the ranks entirely. Among others who will not attend at-tend from Springville are Mr. and Mrs. John Barney, the former being afflicted with Rheumatism. Several others ' from this community com-munity will not answer the encampment en-campment roll call, this year. Among the older people who plan to attend are Mrs. Melessa Messenger, who hopes to celebrate her 96th birthday next February. Mrs. Messenger did extra duty at 'her home on the southwest bench, in preparation for the week's celebration. Springville presented the program pro-gram Wednesday forenoon, before a large and appreciative audience. The local committee and citizens in general are well represented at the encampment, which will be concluded Friday night. |
