Show MALIA SPEAKS ON BANK TOPIC PAYSON John T. Malia, recently recent-ly appointed state bank commis-! commis-! sioner, E. H. Street and Jeff Bal-J Bal-J iff, in charge of affairs at the closed State Bank of Payson were ! the guest speakers at the regular 1 dinner session of the Payson Lions club he'd Monday night at the Payson hotel. Mr. Malia discussed the bank situation in general at the present time, causes for bank failures and particularly in relation to the closing' clos-ing' of th'e Payson bank. The bank should be reopened and not liquidated, he said, and proposed some plans leading to an early opening. The speakers felt that the best interest for Payson was for the local people to reopen the bank with local capital and that is the general gen-eral plan to be followed. Vocal selections were given by Dean Wightman, accompanied by Mrs. May T. Dixon. |
