A number of relatives formed a party Sunday and motored to Vivian Viv-ian park to celebrate the birthday of Arthur Condie. A sumptuous chicken dinner was served during the afternoon to Jane and Erynn Packard of Provo, G. S. Condie, Mrs. Lena Maycork and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Packard ond family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Condie and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie and family. After the party the latter couple and their children motored to Strawberry valley returning by way of Spanish Fork canyon. A delightful week-end party was given by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sum-sion Sum-sion at the ranch in Hobble Creek canyon in honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Christensen of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Flmo Christiansen of Payson, Miya Alton Argylu of Spanish Fork, M rs. Floas Johnson, Mra. Mary Oakes, Miss Arlene Mendienhall, Mrs. Bws Mendenhull, Mm. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cooper of Salt Lake were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and Mra. Earl Condie. They Complimentary to Miss Clara Brown who will be married this week, her mother, Mrs. I. S. Brown and sister, Mrs. Leo Weight entertained enter-tained nt a shower at the mother's home Monday evening. The party was held on the lawn which was gayly decorated with red, white and blue lights. A program of games, furnished pleasant entertainment enter-tainment for the evening and was i'o 1 1 o wed by a tasty t wo-c o u r s e lunch. About 30 relatives and close friends attended from Spanish Fork, Provo and Springville. Many lovely gifts were received by the honored guest. In honor of her little son, Russell, Rus-sell, Mrs. Bert Groesbeck entertained enter-tained at a nicely arranged birthday birth-day party at their home Monday afternoon. Games followed by a dainty lunch were enjoyed. About ten little friends were in attendance. attend-ance. Miss Aleen McKenzie, nurse of Salt Lake City, is spending the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen McKenzie of this city. Miss Dee Spratling of West Jordan Jor-dan is the guest of her sister, Mrs. L. L. Baker and family this week. Miss Helen McKenzie with a number of Salt Lake friends is spending a week's vacation at Lake Tahoe. Miss Marion Groesbeck of this city is a guest during this week of Miss Lois Maughn at Logan. Prominent among the social happenings hap-penings of the past week was the party given Wednesday evening, by Mrs. Harold Christensen at her home, for a number of friends. With a profusion of garden flowers flow-ers about the entertaining rooms and crystal baskets of pink and white sweet peas centering small tables, an attractive decorative scheme wa3 carried out. Luncheon was served early in. the evening followed by progressive games. Prizes were won by Mrs. Margaret Grooms, Mrs. Charles Boyer and Mrs. Elsie Miller of Provo. Other guests in attendance were: Miss Verena Graham of Fairview, Mrs. Vesta Crandall of Salt Lake, Mrs. . .i ... i , and Mra. A. C Lambert of Salt Lake City were guests of the hitter's hit-ter's daughter, Mrs. Arvil Bird, one day of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pennington, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grant and Mr. and Mrs. George Crandall formed a party Sunday and motored to Hobble Creek canyon where a delicious de-licious picnic lunch was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thomas and two children, of Culver City, Calif., are visiting at the home of Mrs. Ted Rowland. Mrs. Thomas, who was formerly Mabel Rowland, Row-land, came especially to care f other ot-her mother who is still unable to be around after an auto accident which occurred more than, two months ago. Mr. and Mrs. John Crandall, Mrs. Thomas Hennigan and children, chil-dren, and Mr. and Mrs. George Crandall and family spent one day of the -past week picnicking in Hobble Creek canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Melius and children of Salt Lake weree week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson in this city. Among the delightful outings of the past week was the party held at Provo canyon Sunday, with Mr. and Mrs. Max Kless, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Holley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Will Humphrey, Mr. and Mrs. Pier Brinton and family, Mrs. Charlotte Crandall, Mr. and Mrs Ray Gammell and John Nelson Nel-son and Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Hap-good Hap-good participating. A delightful time was spent by the Bluebird girls of the Fourth ward Monday evening, when they were entertained at the home of their leader, Mrs. Cora Phillips. A lesson on table setting was studied and the girls arranged the table for a dainty luncheon served early in the evening. Stories of pioneers were other entertaining features with RaNee Crandall, Sydonna Bradley, Lucille Jenkins, Emma Holley, Louise and Lucille Averett and Mrs. Lora Patrick, stake advisor, ad-visor, present. Mrs. Clara Smith of this city, visited her sister, Mrs. Henry Sum-sion Sum-sion and family at Chester early this week. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Austin Barlow of Ogden. A number of friencs formed a party to spend the week-end at Kelley's Grove. Hiking and pinic lunch were enjoyed by tte following follow-ing in attendance: Lenore Condie, Harriet Brinton, Virginia Rivers, Geraldine Eggertson and Gladys Tliompscon. Miss Sarah Jane Coomes of Springville and Milton Nephi Johnson John-son of Spanish Fork were issued a license to wed at the county court house, Provo, the past week. Members of the 4-H sewing club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Heber Houtz. Mn, A. W. Cherrington was in charge of the meeting. The girls report considerable progress in their class work. Nine members and one guest were in attendance. ; Mrs. Eliza Thorn of this city has j spent the past week in Richfield, Idaho, as the giiest of her daughter. daugh-ter. Ted Rowland of this city has returned re-turned to his work at Monticello after spending July 4 with his fam-' fam-' ily here. Mr.- and Mrs. Harry Pennington ; had as their dinner guests Sunday Sun-day the following relatives: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Roylance of Paul, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piper of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Clara M. Bate of this city. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Hapgood and laughters Winnifred and Margar-K Margar-K have returned to their home in Anaheim after a week's visit with relatives and friends here. They were accompanied home by Miss Margaret Holley who will visit several weeks there. During their stay here Mr. and Mrs. Hapgood have been the motif for a number of social events among which were dinners given by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gammell, Mr. and Mrs. Pier Brinton, Brin-ton, and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Holley.
