Show IMPROVEMENT DESIRED , The fact that the engineers are already making preliminary surveys on Main street, is indicative of the city council's intention to give notice that they propose to proceed with this desired improvement. , The council could have selected no better time in which to undertake this work than the present. The prices of all necessary commodities are lower than they have been for years; labor is plentiful also, and, if a real job is done, work will be afforded many who are greatly in need of it. The property owners on the street who vill be called upon to pay for part of the work, and who are-in are-in favor of it, are almost unanimous in their desire that it be finished with the same lasting and enduring material ma-terial that for the past ten years or more has withstood with-stood so satisfactorily the hardest kind of usage. A properly consructed concrete pavem.ent is not only one by which. all other types are judged, but in Utah it is a. one hundred percent Utah product. It is generally conceeded that the proposed improvement im-provement is one that is badly needed. Business people peo-ple for the most part feel that great losses are sustained by the present condition of the street. Citizens interested in-terested in the proposed project feel that the property owners should .be willing to do their share to make an improvement that will promote better business and in-cidently in-cidently assist them) in keeping their business houses occupied. Men who have enjoyed the patronage of the citizens citi-zens of this community for many years should expect ex-pect to cooperate With the city in such a praiseworthy movement. The city councilmen are to be congratulated for the business-like manner in which they are going about things. We believe that the people may rest assured that when the work is completed, Springville's business section will be paved in a manner that will bring credit to the city itself and to those who are responsible for the improvement. The best' is always cheapest in thi long run. ..... . . , .. i |
