Show Payson Home Is Damaged By Fire PAYSON. Fire of an undetermined undeter-mined origin almost destroyed a frame residence in the southeast part of Payson on Monday about 11 a. m. The home was owned by Pete Tryphonus who purchased it this spring from Michael Steiner. Mr. Tryphonus and family had gone to the canyons on a vacation Irip and had left a friend as care-laker care-laker at their home. He started a ire in the kitchen stove -and went out to do some chores. When he returned it was on fire all under the roof, but did not start from a defective flue. The local firetruck was called and made a quick run but were hampered in their work at first as the nearest fire hydrant was 1800 feet away and the truck carries but 1250 feet of hose. The blaze was kept under check with chemicals while a car brought the hose cart from town. After the -waters was brought onto the premises the fire wag soon under control.. The roof was entirely burned. All furniture and contents were removed without damage. The loss is $700 or $800. |
