The stage and seats will be put in shape this week by Provo Rotariana for one of the finest of all of the Timp programs. r The. Provo Post No. 13 of the American Legion has secured I the bombs for the fireworks and has the crack drum and I bugle corps ready for participation. The Provo chamber of" commerce, the University of Utah and Brigham Young uni- i.'; versity all have their parts of the program well in hand. 8 Lighting Problem , Hugh Syme, Dr. Milton Marshall, and Percival Bigelow announce that the lighting problem is solved for the program in the Theater of the Pines. ' bers of the committee have been deluged with- letters and phone ; calls in regard to the hike, the fol- , lowing information is given: Buses will be available to accom- ; I modate those who do not have their ; own ears, leaving Center and First ,! I West streets at 4 and 6:30 o5clock '! Friday. Those driving their own ', 'i cars may go to Aspen Grove at any , time of day. The sheriff and other . ' members of the patroling commit- 1 tee went to Aspen early this week : and concluded that the road is so excellent that it may remain open ,! for up traffic all the time. Down , i traffic, merely as a convenience, i will leave Aspen Grove at 15-min- i ute intervals. The road will be carefully patrolled. 1 Food may be purchased at Aspen ' Grove if desired. Refreshments will :, i also be served at Emerald lake. j' ! A few beds will be available at .' Aspen Grove, but reservations for i' these should be made with Mrs. -: John Stewart in advance. Program At 8 P. M. ' I The program in the Theater of ! ' the Pines will begin about 8 p. m. or near dusk. It will consist of j , community singing and numbers I furnished by Lehi, American Fork, , j Pleasant Grove, Provo, Springville', Spanish Fork, Payson, and Heber City as well aa by Brigham Young university and the University of Utah. jj The Hollywood "baby stars", ' Thora and Valene Stewart, will be featured on the program. Other numbers are: the Maori trio with t hula hula girls, B. Y. U.; Albert '! Swenson, violin, Pleasant Grove; ' Jean Paulson, in a new version of the "Legend of Timpanogos," representing Timpanogos cave; Dr. Vein Houston, American Fork; ' ' male duet, Paysrn; solo. F.ichard 1 Condie, Springville. The other towns have not yet announced their numbers, but have assured the committee com-mittee that they will be represented. : 1 Brief Pageant 1 The program will be followed by i a brief pageant of the coming of fire to the human race. The age of the hike will then be counted ' with sky rockets and bombs after which the fire will be lighted in a ceremonial fashion, the dance being constructed around the Legend of Timpanogos. Parties will leave for the summit immediately after the program but the official hiking party will leave Aspen Grove at 4 a. m. and at 6 a. m. Return to Provo may be made at any time either Friday night after the program, or Saturday. . |
