Show High School Boys Admit Killing Of Oakland Policeman Amazing Career Of Crime In Coast City Is Revealed Under Questioning; Captured At Beaver While Stealing Car BEAVER, Utah, July 11. (U.R) Their assumed toughness tough-ness swept away by adolescent fear, two Oakland high school boys, confessed slayers of a policeman, looked forward apprehensively appre-hensively today to the prospect of years in prison. Lewis Herschel Downs and Gerald Gasparich,both aged 16, formally confessed yesterday to an amazing and intensive in-tensive career of crime in California, authorities announced. they were trying to steal a ca from Warren Nielsen, Beaver gal age man. The boys admitted they shot andC i fatally wounded Patrolman William Wil-liam T. Kohler, in Oakland, July 2. Tell About Shooting "We went out to East Oakand for target practice," Downs said. "Kohler asked what we were doing. do-ing. I told him we were just looking look-ing around. He said we had better come along with him. I got out of the car and told him to put up his hands. Instead he went for his gun. Gasparich and I both let him have it. He fell and we fled."
