A fine program is arranged for the afternoon during which a quilt, cont ributed by Mis. Khoda A. flat Held, will be sold. All pioneers of the community will be special honor guests. Af ton Palfrey man, Mrs. Marie Cranmer, Mrs. Reynolds, Rey-nolds, Mrs. Pearl Hall, Mrs. Elva Averett, Mrs. Helen Whiting, Mrs. Inez Parker, Miss Merlyn Sumsion and Mis. Manilla Brown. The First ward M. I. A. officers, in appreciation for the services rendered by Mrs. Mae Huntington as Y. L, M." I. A, president, presented pre-sented here with a beautiful painting paint-ing by John Hafen at an informal social in the ward chapel Friday evening. A program, games and refreshments were features of the party. ' Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison and little daughter of St. George spent several days of the past week with Mrs. Harrison's mother, Mrs. Sarah Lloynd, en route to Ames, Iowa, where Mr. Harrison will attend at-tend the university. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver JDalton entertained en-tertained at a well arranged dinner din-ner at their home Wednesday evening eve-ning complimentary to Dr. S. Eugene Eu-gene Dalton of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Mrs. Arch H. Bird spent several days of the past week in Logan where she went to attend the graduation grad-uation exercises of her daughter from the U. S. A. C. Bishop and Mrs. Ernest Strong and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grant spent the past week on business and a pleasure trip to California. The Junior and Gleaner girls of the First ward M. I. A. entertained at a weiner roast and bonfire program pro-gram in Spring Creek canyon Tuesday Tues-day evening. Complimentary to Miss Margaret Holley, a bride of this week, Lenore Condie and Miss Harriet Brinton entertained at a shower at the home of the latter Thursday evening. Guests included Beth Smith, Ulalia Condie, Naomi Tew, Madge Cran-dall, Cran-dall, Hazel Anderson, Geraldine Eggertson, Josephine Brimhall, Gloria Friel, Dorothy Searle, Charlotte Char-lotte Hall, Ruth Lee, Billy Lee, Evelyn Miner, Louis Snelson, Virginia Vir-ginia Rivers, Emma Holley, Mrs. Ben Holley, Mrs. Lottie Crandall, the guest of honor and hostesses. Miss Holley received many pretty gifts. A dainty luncheon concluded the party. Mrs. Eliza Thorn spent the past several days in Salt Lake the guest of her daughter, Mrs. M. D. Bring-hurst Bring-hurst and family. Ava Delma Bridge club members and friends were entertained at the home of Mrs. Pearl Smith on Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. Luncheon was served at 8 o'clock followed by cards. Mrs. Margaret Zabriskie won high score favor and Mrs. Dol-ley Dol-ley Smith the guest prize. There were twelve members present and five guests including Mrs. Wealtha Mendenhall, Mrs. Leona Allen, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Myrtice Pace and Mrs. Ethelle Anderson. Ms. J. E. Hoyle and children and Mrs. E. W. Brown were guests Thursday at the home of Mrs. Wan-ded Wan-ded Openshaw at Provo. Mrs. Pier Brinton spent the past week in Salt Lake with hr son Howard who is receiving treatment at the L. D. S. hospital. Miss Hazel Blake of St. Anthony Idaho, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Dick Thorn and family in Springville. Members of the Fourth ward M. I. A. choruses will entertain at a concert at the chapel Friday evening. eve-ning. All ward members and friends are urged to attend. The proceeds derived will be used to defry expenses ex-penses of the choruses to the June convention in Salt Lake. Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and children 1 of this city left last week to visit her parents and other relatives in Arizona. Mrs .Kenneth Condie and Mis. G. G. Neill entertained at a miscellaneous miscel-laneous shower at the home of the latter, last Tuesday evening in honor hon-or of Mrs. Vadal Childs a recent bride Games, music and luncheon were enjoyable features. The bride received a number of beautiful and useful gifts from her many friends and relatives present. Mr. and Mrs. John Childs gave a nicely arranged dinner and reception re-ception for their son Vadal and wife who were married May 18 in the Logan temple. |
