A pleasant evening was spent Satu;day when a number of relatives rela-tives and friends surprised Mrs. Sel-voy Sel-voy ioyer at the home of Mr. and i Mrs. Joseph Jarvis. The' occasion being Mrs. Boyer's birthday. Radio music and games were enjoyed, also a delicious luncheon which was served in the late evening to the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Os-car Boye'r, Mr. and Mrs. Selvoy Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Boyer. Guests included: in-cluded: jir. and Mrs. A. O. Thoru I and sons, Bryce and Grant, also Mr. Richard Thorn of Ogden and Miss Josephine Sanford. . j Mrs. Rose Boyer and daughle'r Ruth had as their guests Sunday, (Miss Feima Bailey, and Miss Helen Manglesen of Nephi who are attending attend-ing the B. Y. U. this winter. Radio music furnished pleasant amuse-me'nt amuse-me'nt after dinner. ' The Sea Gull girls of the Fourth ward Primary were delightfully entertained en-tertained Saturday evening at the home of theih instructor Mrs. Marie Cranmer. Candy making furnished pleasant amusement for the following 'class members present: pre-sent: Bernice Jensen. Low Lund, Noami Maycock, Ruth Parker, Rose Marie HeyWood. Elizabeth Black-, Black-, ett, Charlotte Hall, Eulalia Condie, ; Audrey Pace, and Naomii Sum-sion. Sum-sion. After attending the funeral of Sam Clark, Thursday afternoon, Miss Cleon Wilkins of Provo way dinner guest of Miss Ethel Taylor at her home. The Gleaner class of the First Ward M. I.. A. entertained at an enjoyable and successful skating party at Glengary. Thursday evening. even-ing. A large crowd of class members mem-bers as well as members of other wards attended. Miss Merle Blackett entertained at an informal dinner party at her home Sunday, in compliment to Arthur Longton of Salt Lake. Stanley Gunn of Beaver who is just returning from an L. D. S. mission in the Eastern states visited visit-ed with Mr. and Mrs. James Sim-pkins Sim-pkins during the week. Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler accompanied acc-ompanied by Miss Inez Wheeler, Mrs. Frank Cranmer and Miss Hattie Blackett spent Friday in Salt Lake City. The play presented by the First ward Sunday School in the Chapel, Friday and Saturday evening was enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience. Plans are being discussed dis-cussed to take the entertainment to other near-by towns. The Chirstinas program which is given annually by the Sunday School of the Community Church will be held Friday evening, Dec. 21, beginning at 7 o'clock. All members with their families uvo invited to be present. Mrs. Alice Garner of Salt Lake spent one day of the past week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Simpkins in this City. Outstanding among the social j ( events of the past week was the j , party given Wednesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Payne at their heme. The early evening was i spent playing cards three tables ' for the game being arranged. Brown and Mrs. Clara Smith . went to Provo Friday afternoon to j attend the funeral services held in the Sixth ward chapel for Mrs. Mercy Palmer. j I j !Miss Dorothy Deering entertain-j ed a number of her friends at a birthday party at her home last Monday evening. Games and j music were enjoyed; also a delici-' delici-' ous lunch which was served to twelve present. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Van Boskirk and cihldren, and Mrs. Annis Simpson Sim-pson all of Salt Lake visited friends and relatives in this City Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Van Boskirk were i former residents of Springville and recently moved from Preston, Idaho 1 to Salt Lake. I Miss Thora Perry, daughter of i Mr. and Mrs. Mark Perry and Max P. ill of Mapleton were married Tuesday. December 11, at the County Court house. E. Byron Dastrup performed the ceremony. The ladic's of the Mothers Study club of Springville wore pleasantly entertained Friday afternoon at thf heme of Mrs. Elias Harmer. An ' interesting talk on "America niza-tirn" niza-tirn" was given by Principal E. E. Knudsen of the hich school. In conclusion a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. On account j of the flu epidemic a large percent of members were unable to attend. Tho literary committee of the First ward Relief society were in charge of the splendid Christmas program given in the ward chapel Monday afternoon. Mrs. Margaret Huntington in an inte'resting man--ner gave the life history of Gladys Ann Wagstaff and Mrs. Ruth Har-wood, Har-wood, after which i.irs. E. E. Knud-scn Knud-scn gave a number of poems by t hese authors. Other numbers on 1 the program consisted of a saxo-1 saxo-1 phone duet, Donloc Kt'nncdy and Ray Alleman, accompanied by L. E. j Faux at the piano; poems of Christmas Christ-mas by Bobbie and Billie Knudscn; vocal solo, Mary Wainwright. In conclusion delicious refreshments carrying out the Christmas idea were st'rved to about fifty members ) and guests present. ! |
