Show SOCIETY 1 - An enjoyable evening was spent Saturday when Misses Olive and Lucy Childa entertained a number of friends pt thoir home. Progressive Progres-sive "Cootit" was the feature of entertainment en-tertainment with score prizes being awarded to Miss Marie Jensen and Harold Whiting. Other guests in eluded Mr. and Mis. Floyd Har-mor, Har-mor, Mark Johnson, Miss Lucille Straw, Raphael Palfrey man and Erling Roy la nee. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon served by the hostesses concluded con-cluded the party. The ladies of the Mother's study club were delightfully entertained Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ivan Child. Miss Mercy T.nnrlhprir fear-her in the hich school, read, "T.e Doll House," af- ter which a vocal sold was rendered ren-dered by Mrs. Earl Sumsion, accompanied accom-panied at the piano by Mrs. La Celle Sumsion. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. D. Ford Crandall entertained at a nicely arrange'J dinner at their home Sunday in compliment to Mrs. Cramlall's parents. par-ents. Mr.' and Mrs. Adam Andersoh of Provo who left Tuesday for a several months visit in California. Covers we're laid for ten guests. Mrs. Mae Huntington reviewed in an interesting manner the book "San Luis Rey' at the meeting of the First ward Relief society members mem-bers Tuesday afternoon. Another entertaining number on the program pro-gram was the trombone solo by : Will Parry, accompanied at the piano by George Barrett. Sixty-four members were present and one , stake board member. I The Daughters of the Pioneers, Camp No. II of Springville, were delightfully entertained Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Eliza Thorn. Pioneers of this camp were also special invited guests. During the afternoon a nicely arranged nrogram was given, as follows; Commupnity singing; song, Willis K. Johnson, Sr.; toast to pioneers, Mrs. Ella Reynolds; vocal solos. Miss Donna Dillingham, accompanied accompan-ied by Miss Gloria Friel at the piano; talk on "Early Davs and Pioneer Recreations," by Don C. Johnson. Sr.; piano solos, Mrs. Mary Witney; quartet, . Mrs. A. O. Thorn, Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall, Mrs. W. G. Parker, Mrs. Eugene Oakes, accompanied at the piano bv Miss Josephine Sanford. In conclusion con-clusion a dainty luncheon was served by the hostess to fortv-four members and guests present. Those who assisted Mrs. Thorn with tb lunch were Miss Fannie Rowland, Mrs. Olive McCurdv, Mrs. Laura Banner. Mrs. Irene Strong and Mrs. Dora Duncan. - Mrs. Mary Beckstrom of Iaple-ton Iaple-ton visited during the past ten days the home of Mrs. Bert Rowland for members of the Social Twelve Card club and friends. For entertainment entertain-ment during: the evening progres-siv progres-siv auction bridge was played, with, prizes- being awarded to Mrs. ( Georpe Crandall and Mrs. Hazel , Harrison. Other members and j guests included: Mrs. Harry Pen-: nington, Mrs. Floyd Harmer, Mrs. Lee Sumsion, Mrs. Marcellus Neil-son, Neil-son, Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Mrs. Ar-j thur Finley, Mrs. Amasia Rowland, Mrs. William H. Brown, Mrs. W. G. Phillips, Mrs. Ed. Johnson. At 11 o'clock a delicious ulncheon was served by the hostess, after which Mrs. Amasia Rowland was elected president and Mrs. Floyd Harmer secretary and treasurer for the coming year. The club will meet again Thursday, January 24, at the home of Mrs. Arthur Finley. The annual Black Hawk entertainment enter-tainment given Thursday evening in the opera house was a successful 1 entertainment in every detail. A1 number of veterans as well as friends and patrons were present to p'ljov the supper, the program and the dancing. The committee members mem-bers in charge met Saturday to report re-port on arrangements made for the entertainment. i Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Bird and Mr. and Mrs. Max Packard were among the guests from Springville to attend fhe skating partv given by the Utah Poultry association at Glengarry Friday evening. The members of the Kensington club of the Springville Community church were entertained Tuesday afternoon at the horn? of B. F. Burnett. Bur-nett. The time was pleasantly spent with business, sewing and music. Later a dainty lunch was served by the hostess to the following follow-ing ladies present: ' Mrs. Robert Davidson, Jr., Mrs. H. E. Urquhart, Mrs. Erie Boorman, Mrs. Minnie Dennison, Mrs. Frank Blackett, Mrs. Robert Davidson, Sr., and Mrs. Peter Forsythe. Members of the Ladies Literary club will hold -their next, meeting at the home of Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion Sum-sion Saturday afternoon, January 19. All members are asked to be 1 present. Miss Laura Clegg was hostess t? a number of friends at a party at her home Monday evening. Progressive' Pro-gressive' games furnished pleasant entertainment. Music and a nice luncheon were also enjoyed by th? following girls present: Miss Florence Flor-ence Daley, 'Mrs. Hole'n Robbins, Miss Josephine Sanford, Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Packard and Miss Mildred Hoffman. A number of friends from Sprinir-. Sprinir-. ville and. Provo enjoyed the card party given for the members of the J. R. club at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hitchcock in Provo. Tuesday evening. Proeressive '500' was the feature of entertainment, with Mrs. James Southerland and 'ft. M. Lyall as winners of high score prizes. Sumsion and baby have returned to their home after an enjoyable two weeks' motor mo-tor trip to St. George and other places of interest in southern Utah.
