A sell-o- ut crowd indicates the importance of the Friday night basketball game at the Springville High School gym between arch rivals, Spring-ville and Spanish Fork. Prin-cipal Omar Hansen reported all reserved seats sold out. Other seats are available on first come basis. Not only is the game signi-ficant from a rivalry stand-point, but more important than this is the fact that the loser of his game will not likely get a birth in the Class A joust in March. Game times are 6:15 and 8 p.m. The game appears to be a toss-u- p despite the fact that the Red Devils took the Dons on their own court in their first meeting. Spanish Fork has chalked up some impres-sive play since that time and will be out for revenge come Friday night. Coach Hal Jensen's club has improved likewise and can give the best team in the re-gion a run for their money. Witness the fact by the results of the last two games when they came within a Bulldog's hair of overpowering the Provo machine, losing 65-6- 6 in one of the most exciting battles seen here for a long time. Also the type of play the Red Devils exhibited at Carbon when they trampled the Dinos last Friday 89-6- in a big page in the Devil's book of wins. Friday's game should be another thrill-ing rafter ringer. Thriller Despite losing to Provo, the game was a thriller. Provo led throughout even as much as 11 points at the end of the third quarter. The Devils fought back like veterans in the final quarter and with Ro-ger Reid hitting to perfection from way out and then capi-talizing on three foul tosses at the charity line in the closing moments, he pulled the score to within one point of the visi-tors. A charity toss was mis-sed and a field goal just as the gun cut short the terrific Devil drive by one point, Reid got 23, Bird 16, Senior 12 for the Devils. Beat Carbon Coach Jensen used 10 play-ers in the Carbon game after the Devils rolled to a 11 point third quarter lead. Every start-er scored in double figures for the Devils with Reid getting 20, Bird 19, Groneman 16, Sen-ior 15 and Thorpe 11. Region Five W L Pet.
