Clyde, president of National Parks Council, has contributed much to Scouting. Tributes fo Scouters planned for Sunday The Sunday evening MIA session of Springviile stake quarterly conference at 7 p.m., will commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Scouting in the LDS church and as a special feature fea-ture two Springviile men, who have an enviable record of service ser-vice to Scouting in this community com-munity wpl be honored. They are Wilford W. Clyde, who for more than ten years has served as president of the National Parks Council, in addition to holding other offices and to Ernest A. Strong, who has also dedicated many years to Scout work. President Strong serves locally lo-cally as chairman of Section 6, Region 12, Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Utah National Parks Council Board, a member of the executive execu-tive committee of Region 12, a national representative and a member of the National Camping Camp-ing committee. President Clyde of the 'National 'Na-tional Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America has been re-elected to his present office ten consecutive years. He and his wife contributed the major portion of the Boy Scout Lodge in Paysoir canyon and 'he' has served in numerous other capacities ca-pacities as a Scout leader. Both men have been awarded award-ed the highest Council and regional re-gional awards in Scouting. Speaker J. Elliott Cameron, dean of students at Brigham Young University, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cameron, Springviile, Spring-viile, will be the speaker. Mrs. Wayne Evans,, stake trail builder partner will lead the group in their, "Rededication of Scouting Ideals," during the closing ceremonies. Everyone is invited to attend at-tend this meeting which will also feature a trio of Cub Scouts and a chorus of Explorers Ex-plorers and Scouts who have earned the coveted Duty to God or Eagle Scout award. Music for the evening is under direction of Mrs. Bliss Hoover. The Boy Scouts of America program was only three years old, when it was adopted as an integral part of the LDS church program and many church leaders have been honored hon-ored for their outstanding contributions con-tributions and service to the Boy Scout program. Leonard Harris of the MIA stake presidency, has been in charge of program arrangements arrange-ments under direction of President Pres-ident George Pehrson. |
