Show Letter to the editor Parent takes issue with board decision Dear Editor: We spend quite a bit on art every year, and have the reputation repu-tation of being one of the finest fin-est art centers. Is not music an art? Should such a cultural center frown on music ? Do we gain more fame from our art? Maybe, maybe not. A good deal of fame and good will came to Springville and Utah from our a'cappellas going go-ing to the World's Fair last year. Our music is new to achieve, but short-lived. Would we have' an art exhibit ex-hibit or an art gallery if ift had been left up to the vote of a handful of men from different differ-ent towns who believed only in the 3 Rs? According to the Tuesday news report the Ogden A'cappella A'cap-pella choir has been accepted to enter into the competition in the music festival in California. Cal-ifornia. We are happy for their good fortune. Springville High School A' cappella choir was denied the right to send tapes or enter into competition, although they were the only ones last year from Utah chosen to go to the World's Fair, not that Ogden may not be as good, but Springville was denied the right to compete. Reading, writing and arithmetic arith-metic are always important, but all work and no play makes Jack and Jill a dull boy or girl. That is what it means to a majority of the students, when they take these finer experiences away, all work. We parents can not believe that any week's studie; mean as much to the st: and always be remember-the remember-the trips which they fc ken in the past with our and which will not be f-ted f-ted any more Some students have that their trip to the X Fair last - year was tte experience they ever ha: touched their lives and for the good.
