Show i Coveted bowling I titles at stake as tourney opens Utah's most .coveted bowling titles go on the line between Sept. 21 and Nov. 3 in the ' tenth annual All-Star Champ ionships sponsored by Utah State Bowling Proprietors Association, As-sociation, it as announced today to-day by J. Mervin Redden, Springville, USBPA president. Mr. Redden emphasized one change in the tournament format, for-mat, noting that popularity and importance of the tourna-I tourna-I ment's two divisions had made : it necessary to schedule the .! men and women separately in stead of running the twc meets simultaneously. Thus the men will o.pen with regional preliminaries Sept. 21 to 22 at nine establishments, with semi-fiinals at the Logan Lanes, Sept. 29, and the finals at Orchard Bowl in North Salt Lake, Oct. 5-6. The women's meet opens with the regional preliminaries at seven establishments Oct. 19 to 20 with the semi-finals at South East Bowling Courts in Salt Lake City Oct. 26-27 and the finals at Riverside Bowl in Provo, Nov. 2-3. Mr. Redden also noted that all commercial bowling establishments estab-lishments in Utah are members mem-bers of the USBPA and will have entry blanks on hand. Entry deadline for the men is Sept. 15 and the women Oct. 13 at midnight. The tournament serves both as a state championship affair and as an elimination for the Bowling Proprietors Association Associa-tion of America All-Star at Dallas, Texas, next January. Three Utahns the men's champion and runnerup and the women's champion will receive expense paid entries to the national meet from the US BP A. One ' half of all prize funds will be returned in awards to leaders in the regional re-gional preliminaries. Houses in the men's preliminaries prelim-inaries include White City Bowl, Jo-Lee Lanes, Holt Lanes, Bountiful Bowl, State Lanes, Wasatch Lanes, Holiday Holi-day Lanes (Heber City), Art City Lanes and Miracle Bowl. Women's preliminaries will be at Ben Lomond Lanes, Golden Bowl, Rocket Bowl, Rancho 'Lanes, Roller's Town & Country, Coun-try, Olympus Lanes and Moab Lanes. When your clothesline needs washing coil it around a washboard wash-board or a piece of wood about that size; stand it in a tub of hot soapy water, and scrub it thoroughly with a brush. To avoid twisting or tangling, let it dry right on th board, and put it up again when it's completely com-pletely dry. |
