Show Funeral rites held for G. H. Black, 78 Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Saturday in the Third ward for George Henry Black, 78, who died Wednesday ' of last week at the family home following a long illness. Bishop Calvin Packard was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. He was born Nov. 15, 1882, in Kanab, a son of George Henry and Minerva Washburn Black. He received his education educa-tion in the schools of Huntington Hunt-ington and the BY Academy. He married " Sarah Ruth Gale April 4, 1902, in Huntington and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Following their marriage mar-riage they lived in Hammond, N.M., and later in Monticello Mrs. Bart (Lela) Pierce of retired 10 years ago and they moved to Springville where they have resided since. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of-fice of High Priest, and had served as a ward clerk earlier in his life. Surviving are his widow; two sons and five daughters: G. M. Black of Springville; Junius Black, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Bishop and Mrs. George (Marge) Bishop, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. John (Inez) Huntsman of Pleasant Grove and Mrs. Merrill (Luel-la) (Luel-la) Tucker of Cleveland, and and Salt Lake City. Mr. Black Provo; ' 32 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren and ' five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Jess Black of Salt Lake City, Glen Black of Monticello and Mrs. Mattie Adair of Gallup, N. M. |
