Show Highway budget for '61 set The tentative construction budget of the State Department Depart-ment ,of Highways for. the 1961 calander year has been established estab-lished at $43 million. The booming Interstate Highway program will claim the major portion of the fiscal pie, with an allocation of $25 million; the primary system will receive re-ceive $7.5 million; the secondary secon-dary system, $4.0 million; the urban system, $1.5 million and state construction, (limited to use of state funds only), $5.0 million. : . The State Road Commission has already announced a program pro-gram to advertise bid openings for 34 highway projects in 14 counties. This will total 127.2 miles of highway construction and $27 million in contracts. Total milages of all roads and streets in the state as of December 31, 1959 was 33,-904. |
