In an interview with Mr. Carlisle Tuesday, he said that approximately 60 machines are being placed in the front portion por-tion of Memorial Hall this week; that wiring for the new power machines was being installed in-stalled for actual operation of the plant to get underway as soon as installation is completed. complet-ed. He said he hoped the company com-pany could secure a sufficient number of women to operate the machines, preferably Springville women, as this had been a major problem in plants in other parts of the state. At least 20 experienced women wo-men are needed plus about 50 others, he said. Women desiring to work at this company may apply at Employment , Office in Provo. - Sewing of the -sports- jackets will be done in the Springville plant, while the cutting is being be-ing done in a recently installed plant at Ephraim. Distribution of the finished item will be from Brigham City. Mr. Carlisle was pleased with the set-up thus far in Springville and said that if a sufficient force of workers could be secured here, the company would probably enlarge en-large their facilities and be here permanently. The lease for Memorial Hall is for one year. The company has been in business since 1924. They recently re-cently operated a plant at Manti but sold out their interests inter-ests to a Northwestern concern con-cern as sufficient help could not be secured in the area to operate the power sewing machines. |
