Show The Sports Line Holders of elk permits for the three current late season hunts were reminded today that their permit cards must be properly filled in and returned re-turned to the Utah Department of Fish and Game within five days following the end of their hunt. The three late hunts, on the Fishlake, Heaston and Ogden River units, will end Nov. 23. The permit cards are already addressed and postpaid. The law requires they be filled in and mailed whether the holder was successful or not in bagging bag-ging an animal, or even though he didn't go hunting at all. Utah's waterfowl season rolled rol-led along into its seventh week of hunting with field reports listing an "average" hunt to date, according to the department depart-ment of fish and game. The department said an increasing in-creasing number of birds are showing up on waters in the south half of the state as colder cold-er weather sets in. The reports tell of ample birds, both ducks and geese, in the Clear Lake and Sevier River hunting areas. Shooting has been limited somewhat by freezing weather on the marshes around the Great Salt Lake but the reports re-ports show a plentiful supply of ducks remain in this section of the state. The waterfowl season continues con-tinues through Jan. 8, 1960, and gunners were reminded that both federal and state law must be obeyed regarding the slight change in shooting hours each day, along with all other regulations governing this hunt. |
