Show HESS ESTEEM FIRST I WORK Courses of Rescue Car No. 1 1 Awaken Interest of Workingmen. The courses of Instruction in mine rescue res-cue and first aid work given by the staff of bureau of mines car Xo. 11 are awakening awak-ening an enthusiastic response on Uie part of both operators and miners of Utah coal mines, according to Richard V. Ageton. engineer in charge of the car. Mr. Ageton and Dr. A. L. Murray, car physician, arrived in Salt I.ake yesterday, yester-day, to do some special work. "The Etaff of car No. 11 Is extremely gratified with the results of the work accomplished in the coal camps which we have visited." mid Mr. Ageton yesterday. yester-day. "More enthusiastic cooperation could hardly bo desired. Wo are training on the average from ten to eighteen men in mine rescue work and from twenty to fifty in first aid work per week." From Clear Crock, where work is now being done, the car will go to Castlegate in order to begin classes on November 3. From December 16 until the first of tho vear the car will be stationed at Sialt Lake. Instruction in first aid will be given by the staff at the university and to several troops of the local branch of the Bov Scouts. Donald W. Cook, at present acting foreman miner of the staff of car No. 11. has received a promotion. He will go to tho Berkelev bureau of mines station. Mr. Cook has been with the bureau for four years, during which time he has worked both in the field and at national headquarters. Mr. Cook will bo relieved by O. W. Grove, who has been with the bureau for seven years. Recently Mr. Grove was foreman miner of a bureau car- stationed in West Virginia. |
