Show STATISTICS OF CROPS SOUGHT OF FARMERS Questionnaires are being sent out by M. M. Justin, field agent for the bureau of crop estimates, to some 4000 of the most progressive farmers of LTtah in an effort to arrive at an accurate estimate of the actual production of the state in 191S in various field crops, and also of the actual acreage being planted for next year's crop. The farmers, about one out of every seven in the state, are asked to report the following figures for their own-farms: Acreage harvested and total yield of winter and spring wheat, oats, barley, rye, alfalfa seed, clover seed, potatoes, corn, alfalfa hay, other tame hay and wild hay. Acreages planted to winter wheat and to winter rye are also desired. Relative to the importance of this form of co-operation with other farmers in assembling as-sembling trustworthy information for the December Crop Reporter, Mr. Justin says: "Accurate and detailed information regarding re-garding tho crops grown this year will be very helpful in deciding which crops will probably be most profitable next year. In this state the unusual season makes it desirable de-sirable to ascertain crop yields with exceptional ex-ceptional care, so that the experience may serve ae a guide in other unfavorable seasons." |
