Show Section Meetings of Literary Club TIE section meetings of the Ladles' Literary club this week arc as follows: fol-lows: Monday, 2:30 p. m. The dramatic section sec-tion meets at tlio clubhouse. Professor B. Roland Lewis, University of Ltali, will Five a lecture on "The Construction of the One-act Drama." Following the program pro-gram tea will be served, with Mrs. John V. Cowan to pour. Members are invited to hrins guests. Tuesday, 10:30 a. m. The art section mill meet at the clubhouse. Mrs. R. H. TUnev will give a paper on "Historical Paintings" and "Life and Work of Benjamin Ben-jamin West." Tuesday, 2:30 p. m. Tho music section will meet at the clubhouse and spend the time in the study of the cantata, "Joan of Arc." Thursday, 10:30 a. -m. The history-tourist section will meet at the clubhouse. Elbert El-bert Thomas, who was for several years a resident of Japan, will speak on "The Language and Literature of the Japanese." Election of officers will follow the program. pro-gram. Friday, 2:30 p. m. The current events and current literature section will meet at the clubhouse. The program for the day consists of a paper on "The Ottoman Empire." by Mrs. A. D. Pierson, and one on "Portraits of American Women," by Mrs. W. 11. Bramel. Women of U. of U. to Have Meeting. The women of the University of Utah will meet Saturday, March S, at 2:30 in the women's rest room. An interesting interest-ing program has been planned for the afternoon. After a short business session, ses-sion, the club will make a tour of some of the departments of the university, where Professor A. C. Carrington has arranged for experts to act as guides and explain the points of interest to the visitors. When the tour is completed, the women will return to' the clubrooms where the interesting features of the visit wil be discussed over the teacups. tea-cups. Tho hostesses for the afternoon will he Mrs. B. Boland Lewis, Mrs. W. D. Bonner, Mrs. J. L. Barker, Miss Florence Flor-ence Knox, Mrs. Lois Miller and Mrs. Milton Bennion. Mrs. Elton L. Quinn and Mrs. David B. Allen will sprve on the reception committee. Members are privileged to bring guests by notifying the secretary. Y. W. C. A. Meetings Scheduled for Week. Friloha, the high school girls' club, will meet at the Civic Center Tuesday at 4 o'clock. Miss Jennings will give a talk on "Interesting Things in Our Homes." The meeting will be followed by a lesson on "Correct Table-Setting." It is the beginning of a spring pro-j--air.. and is the beginning, also, of the clnbrs training for active work in the girl reserve movement, which this club is sponsoring, a movement to give activities ac-tivities ' to their young sisters and friends. Two squads of girl reserves will be organized this week. These clubs are for girls from 12 to 18 years of age. They will have activities that will appeal ap-peal as much to the girls as scouting does to the boys. The Upsilon Gamma Pi, the younger business girls' club, will meet every Thursday evening at 7:30 at the community com-munity house. Thursday evening a talk will be given by Mrs. Norton Johnson. The Business Girls' league is a club for young women from 25 to 35 years of ;jgc. There arc at present about :wenty youug women iu this club and .hey are doing interesting work. A nembership campaign is in progress. The club meets every Tuesday evening, one week at the community house, where they cook their own suppers, under the direction and supervision of Miss Jennings; Jen-nings; tho next week they meet at the V. W. (;. A. cafeteria for supper, and then have a program meeting afterwards. after-wards. Discussion topics include what are three good working work-ing habits?; what qualities does an employer em-ployer deem necessary in choice of employee?; em-ployee?; how much does a person's business value depend on physical well-being?; well-being?; personal budgets. May 20, supper, sup-per, 6:30. Y. W. C. A. world's work discussion, "Americanization Getting in Touch With Our Foreign Sisters." Lecture Recitals at Rowland Hall. Miss Alice Churchill has arranged a series of short lecture recitals to be given at Rowland Hall during Lent. Among others., the series will include: Modern French music, a comparison of the art of Poe and Chopin; later music with interpretative dancing. Miss Churchill will be assisted by Mrs. Lydia White Brophy, George E. Skelton, Miss Daisj' Rolapp, Miss Margaret Summer-hays Summer-hays and Mrs. C. H. Blanchard. These recitals will be open to the public. Vesper Services to Be Held During Lent. The woman's board of Westminster coliege has arranged a series of Lenten vespers to be given in the several downtown down-town churches. These musicales will 'be under the direction of leading musicians of the city. They will portray in song the story of the life of Christ from the nativity to the resurrection. The first service will be held in the First Methodist Meth-odist church, Sunday, March 9, at 5 o'clock. A full announcement of the program will be made later. The public is invited to the vespers. The regular monthly meeting of the Ladie3' Aid society of "the Cent ral Christian Chris-tian church will be an all-day meeting at the home of Mrs. C. II. Zimmerman, 185 T street, Thursday. v The Oliver O. Howard W. R. C. will entertain at cards Friday afternoon at I. O. O. F. hall. All G. A. R. and W. R. C. members' and friends are invited. The committee on arrangements includes Mrs. Agnes Carter, Mrs. Jennie Jones, Mrs. Jean Rudy, Mrs. Chaflotte Dale and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Snell. Wednesday, at 2 p. m., in the I. O. O. The Home and School league motion picture matinees will begin March S. The Poetry Society of I'itah will meet Monday at S o'clock at tho public library. Miss Joanna Spraguo will speak on "War Poetry." War poems will be read by different members of the society. The women of St. John's guild will entertain at a card party Tnuesday afternoon at tho parish house on Ninth East and Logan avenue. The Women 's Pan-Hellenic will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. F. Derge, 1467 Oiftner avenue. The ladies of St. Patrick's Altar society are making preparations for a card party to be given the evening of March 17, St. Patrick's day, in the Cathedral hall. Mizpah chapter No. 5, yO. E.
