Show FINES II IMPOSED 01 LAW VIOLATORS Two Men and a Woman Found Guilty on Bootlegging Boot-legging Charge.' Special to Tho Tribune. OODKN, March 1. A quartet of alleged violators of I ho liquor law, orrcfited at the union depot yesterday afternoon by the sheriffs department, had their cases disposed of today. Three were found puilty and Fentenced to pay fines, and irm fourth, Victor Neal,. faces a posstblo fenV-ral charge of conspiracy. The membrrs of tho "boozo ganp," as if. was tinned by the: officers, are Victor Neal and his wife, Bertha iNcal, Joe Wilson Wil-son and Tom Vasso. The three latter had liquor in thoir impse ;-slon, bu t Neal did not carry any. Mrs. Neal had a quart in her hand hag-, which .she claimed .she did not know was there ; Wilson had a suitcase containing1 fourteen pints a nd Vasso had two Huif.caf.ea containing forty-nine, forty-nine, pints, collectively. Wilson and Mrs. Neal were arraigned in the city court this morning and pleaded plead-ed guilty to the charge. The former was fined 5J 20 or 120 days, and tho woman was sentenced to pay a fino of 60 or serve s(xty daya. She paid the fine. Vasso pleaded not guilty to the charge and his case was set lor Monday. l,alc tins afternoon Vasso pleaded guilty and was fined ? i 20. This afternoon George H. Blrdsa.ll. investigator in-vestigator of tho department of Justice, arrived in Osden and started the Investigation Inves-tigation of tho case against J?cal. He Instructed Sheriff H. C. Peterson to hold Ne;ii until the complaint was issued. N. Toris, Mexican, 17 yea.rs of age, was arrested at the Union depot this morning by the sheriff's department upon the charge of having liquor In his possession. When searched at the county jail, the youth was found to havo a canvas vest in which he carried twelve pints and two half pints of whiskey. Re will be given a hearing in the Juvenile court on Monday. |
