Close co-operation of the government and the oil industry in-dustry but not government ownership and of both cipital ai d government -wi th labor, was uru'ed today by Mark L. Requd., who is retiring as director of the oil division of tho fuel administration, in an address to delegates to the national petroleum petro-leum congress. "Governmental ownership of everything in general is proposed as the infallible panacea for our alleged national ills. Such action will not benefit humanity, but will destroy the reward of individual efforts," he declared. "Individual initiative !s our most priceless price-less national characteristic and I can not view with patience the proposals and efforts ef-forts that are being made to suppress, discourage or handicap it." The American Petroleum league, reelected re-elected its old officers, headed by President Presi-dent C. L. Maguire of St. Paul. The congress closed tonight with a banquet ban-quet and ball. |
