Show PROBLEM OF TODAY. In ancient days men would frequently declare that they were "between the devil and the deep blue sea." In these later times hundreds of millions of people peo-ple in all tho civilized countries consider con-sider themselves between the upper and nether millstones, and not without reason. rea-son. Tho leaders declare that only by organization organiza-tion can they escape an unfair share of the burdens of life. A preliminary meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of a member of parliament, parlia-ment, and purposes were declared as follows: "To remove undue burdens upon the middle clas3, including the cost of living. liv-ing. "To protect the middle class against bureaucratic and industrial tyranny. "To combine for common protection of those members of the community who have no organization to safeguard their interests."
